Cost pressure is high, and the structural adjustment of the shipbuilding industry needs to be strengthened
Although some people commented that the Chinese ship market in 2010 just looks beautiful, but in any case, there is still beauty.
According to the statistics of the China Shipbuilding Industry Association, in 2010, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 65.6 million DWT, a year-on-year increase of 54.6%; the number of new ship orders received was 75.23 million DWT, an increase of 1.9 times compared with the same period last year. Ship orders amounted to 195.9 million dwt, up 4.1% from the end of 2009.
Affected by the high base in the same period in 2009, the growth rate of the shipbuilding industry declined. Statistics show that there are 2,141 shipbuilding enterprises above designated size in the country, with a total industrial output value of 679.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.2%, a decrease of 3.5 percentage points. Among them, the shipbuilding industry was 513.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%, a decrease of 7.8 percentage points; the ship supporting industry was 76.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%, a decrease of 16.7 percentage points.
Increased concentration
In 2010, the development of key shipbuilding enterprises took a new step. The completion of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding exceeded 7 million DWT, the completion of Shipbuilding Heavy Industry exceeded 5.8 million DWT, and the completion of Jiangsu New Era and Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industry Shipbuilding exceeded 3 million DWT. There are 2 Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in the world's top 5 shipbuilding completions, and 7 Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in the world's top 20 shipbuilding completions.
According to statistics, there are 19 enterprises with shipbuilding output exceeding 1 million DWT in my country, an increase of 8 from 2009. The shipbuilding completion volume of the top 20 enterprises reached 44.34 million DWT, accounting for 67.6% of the national total. Shipbuilding output is concentrated. The degree is continuously improved. In terms of undertaking new orders, the top 20 enterprises in the country have newly undertaken ship orders of 49.75 million dwt, accounting for 66.1% of the national total.
What is gratifying is that shipping companies have also seen positive changes in the structure of orders they undertake, and they have all made gains in large oil tankers, container ships and engineering ships. Statistics show that: in 2010, my country newly undertook 55.56 million dwt of bulk carriers, accounting for 73.9%; 12.93 million dwt of oil tankers, accounting for 17.2%; and 2.92 million dwt of container ships, accounting for 3.9%.
In addition, in 2010, ship equipment enterprises have successfully developed many new products and key components by establishing technological innovation strategic alliances, industry-university-research cooperation, and cooperation with patent companies. "Jiangsu Province Shipbuilding and Supporting Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance", "Ship Power Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance" two major technological innovation strategic alliances have established channels for enterprises to communicate with universities, scientific research institutions, and governments to jointly develop key Technology and key products; China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and German Diesel Engine Company signed a strategic cooperation agreement on diesel engines; Nantong Enterprise and Shanghai Design Company jointly developed the market for special ships and special machinery.
Under the joint efforts of various parties, the first 7RT-Flex84T-D intelligent electronically controlled common rail diesel engine in China, the first domestically produced 6UEC43LSII marine low-speed engine, and the first YB-1926S43MC low-speed diesel engine that meets Tier II emission requirements, appeared in the world. The first series of 8L32/40 medium-speed machines that meet Tier II emission requirements.
In 2010, new breakthroughs were also made in the field of offshore engineering equipment manufacturing. Five 147,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships were all delivered; my country's first self-designed sixth-generation 3,000-meter deep-sea semi-submersible drilling platform and a 3,000-meter deep-water pipe-laying crane were successfully docked; the world's currently under construction The largest ultra-deepwater drilling vessel "Dalian Pioneer" started construction, and the "COSLPI JuanONEER" semi-submersible deepwater drilling platform was delivered, and multi-type offshore engineering auxiliary vessels were built in small batches.
Statistics show that in 2010, a total of 16 offshore platforms of various types were delivered, 5 jack-up drilling platforms and 10 offshore platform modules were newly undertaken. With the support of relevant ministries and commissions, in 2010, the marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry was listed as a strategic emerging industry supported by the state.
Benefit first
In 2010, labor costs and expenses in the shipbuilding industry showed a monthly upward trend. According to the reactions of most shipping companies, the wages of shipbuilding workers in coastal areas increased by an average of 15% by the end of December compared with the beginning of the year. During this period, the central parity rate of RMB against the US dollar increased by 3.01%, which increased the foreign exchange settlement cost of shipping enterprises. In addition, in 2010, the price of marine steel material rose month by month, which increased the procurement cost of ship enterprises.
In the rush to purchase orders for ships, some companies competed to lower their prices in order to compete for orders, resulting in seriously low ship prices in my country. The price war is more prominent in the ship repair market.
In 2010, affected by the drastic fluctuations in the shipping market, the ship repair market remained sluggish. The main reasons were: First, the quotations of my country's ship repair enterprises in the three major engineering fields of plate replacement, rust removal and special coating were all close to the cost price. It has greatly affected the survival and development of ship repair enterprises; second, many shipbuilding enterprises have turned to the ship repair market, and the newly built ship repair facilities have been put into operation one after another in the past few years, and some ship repair enterprises have been under-operated; third, the shipping market is sluggish, resulting in The shipowner's working capital is tight, the repair business of small engineering quantity has increased, and the repair business of large engineering quantity has declined.
Relevant experts in the industry believe that due to rising inflation expectations, steel prices, RMB exchange rates, and labor costs are expected to continue to rise. Under the background of sluggish new ship prices, shipyards are facing increased cost pressure. Enterprises should unremittingly promote the work of establishing a modern shipbuilding model, and should promote various tasks with the core of improving shipbuilding efficiency and reducing shipbuilding costs. Strengthen the refined management of production, and strive to maintain or improve profitability through measures such as improving labor productivity, promoting technological progress, reducing procurement costs, improving steel utilization, and reducing energy consumption.
For this year, the outside world generally believes that with the slowdown of the international and domestic economic recovery, it will be difficult for the effective demand of the ship market to be further enlarged. Differentiation also brings new market demands. Generally speaking, the foundation for the recovery of the international shipping market is not yet solid, and it will take time for ship prices to rise.
In the face of many uncertainties in the international market, the shipbuilding industry must adjust the industrial structure and transform the growth mode as a strategic task for the sustainable development of the shipbuilding industry. It is an important task for the development of the shipbuilding industry to promote scientific and technological progress and speed up the adjustment of product structure, industrial structure, production capacity structure and production organization structure. At the same time, it is still necessary to strengthen mergers and acquisitions and continue to increase industry concentration.
